Many art critics consider Edward Hopper, 1882-1967, to be the first significant American painter in twentieth century art. His New Realism is considered the polar opposite of Jackson Pollock's Abstract Expressionism. “Cape Cod Morning” is one of Hopper's best and most popular paintings as well as one of his largest at 34" x 40" / 86.4 x 101.6 cm. His work is as relevant today as it was a century ago.

“Cape Cod Morning” is one of the few paintings Hopper painted in 1950. Perhaps this was because he was preoccupied with a retrospective of his work in
February and March at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York. In April, it moved to the Museum of Fine Art in Boston and in June it appeared at the Detroit Museum of Arts. This is one of the very few Hopper paintings in which the window glass is invisible. It is used here with the opposite purpose of “Nighthawks” which used a “bubble of glass” to effectively seals off the people within from the city without. The canvas for each of our paintings is stretched on a frame during the painting stage. When the painting is sufficiently dry, it is removed from the frame and the face covered with Gateway Translucent Natural Tracing Paper for protection. It is then rolled and inserted in an extremely sturdy 2 or 2.5 inch diameter PVC pipe which is sealed, packaged, and delivered to your door by the courier.
